The Kaduna State Health Contributory Management Authority reflects the Kaduna State Government’s commitment toward the attainment of the Universal Health Coverage goal for all residents of the State in line with the global agreement by the World Health Organization member countries (including Nigeria) to attain Universal Health Coverage for citizens of the world. The agency was established in February 2018 by law NO 7 of 2018, which is an integral part of the Kaduna state human capital development and social protection strategy for all residents.

The scheme aims to reduce out-of-pocket spending on healthcare to the barest minimum, thereby reducing poverty arising from catastrophic and impoverishing health spending, especially among the marginalized or vulnerable group. The authority is poised and committed to making safe, quality and affordable healthcare more accessible to the residents of Kaduna state especially to the poor and vulnerable. Currently, we have over 500,000 enrollees accessing various health services under the health insurance schemes in our accredited health facilities across the state.

We are making an effort to improve both formal and informal sector enrollment into the health insurance scheme and assiduously working closely with a variety of organizations and relevant stakeholders (individual, private and public sector). In collaboration with other media, marketing and communication outlets, we are dedicated to creating sensitization and awareness about KADCHMA and its operations for all residents. Our recent report showed that over 298,022 persons accessed various health services under the health insurance schemes.

The authority is open and willing to work with all development partners in the health space. It also appreciates the efforts of key actors and stakeholders that have contributed to the development and strengthening of the social health insurance scheme in the State.
